Which materials can I machine with the MATE family?+
Aluminum, brass, copper, engineering plastics and composites. Suitable tools, workholding and machining parameters are chosen for your material and part geometry.
Can 2000 and 7000 series aluminum alloys be machined?+
Yes. The MATE family can machine these aluminum alloys. Tooling, depth of cut and cooling are selected for the condition of the alloy and the required surface finish.
Where does MATE excel?+
Prototypes, small precision parts, electronic enclosures, fixtures and plate parts. In R&D, education, electronics, aerospace, automotive and medical applications, the model is selected around the material and dimensions of the part.
What accuracy does MATE offer for aluminum molds and precision parts?+
The MATE family specifies positioning accuracy of 0.02 mm over 300 mm and repeatability of 0.002 mm. These values describe the axis system. Finished-part tolerances depend on tooling, workholding, temperature and the machining strategy.
Can PCBs be processed with the REVO MATE?+
Yes. The REVO MATE is suitable for PCB processing with its low-vibration body and precise hardware. Especially with the use of a vacuum table, it is ensured that the board to be processed remains level with the table, eliminating problems that may arise from warping in the board.
Is MATE suitable for machining steel?+
The MATE family is designed around machining aluminum, brass, copper, engineering plastics and composites. Projects that require steel machining should be assessed in a different machine class.
How do I choose between a compact CNC and a vertical machining center?+
Start with your part: material, dimensions, workholding, stock removal and cycle requirements. The MATE family combines high-speed spindles with a compact footprint and 230 V single-phase power. MATE 200 and 400 offer 40,000 rpm; Plus offers HSK at 50,000 rpm or DTC at 60,000 rpm. Check the work envelope and table load for the chosen model.
CNC milling or 3D printing for a prototype?+
The two methods can complement each other. A CNC mill removes material from stock such as aluminum, brass and engineering plastics. 3D printing builds in layers and offers different geometric possibilities. End-use material, tolerance, surface finish and geometry should guide the choice together.
What materials are used in the machine's body and motion components?+
REVO MATE has a cast aluminum frame, while Mate400 Plus has a grey cast iron frame. The machined cast frames are equipped with precise square linear guide rails and ball screws on all axes.
Is there a risk of stepping or position loss due to motors or transmissions in REVO MATE CNC mills?+
A direct-drive servo-motor motion system is used on all axes of the REVO MATE. Elements that could cause backlash, such as belt-pulleys or gearboxes, are not used in the REVO MATE. The REVO MATE motors are directly coupled to the ball screws via precision couplings.
Can a job interrupted by a power failure be resumed from where it left off with the REVO MATE?+
Yes. If your job is interrupted for any reason, the REVO MATE remembers where it left off when restarted and allows you to resume from there. You can also manually pause long-running jobs and restart them later from where you left off.
Which tool holders are used?+
MATE 200 and MATE 400 use manual ER16 tool holders. MATE 400 Plus HSK uses HSK-E25 ER16; the DTC package uses a direct system for 8 mm tool shanks. Maximum tool diameter and cutting conditions depend on the selected package.
Is it necessary to connect a computer to control the machine?+
No, no external computer is needed to control the machine. Everything can be done from the built-in touchscreen control panel.
Which CAD/CAM programs is the REVO MATE compatible with?+
The REVO MATE is compatible with all popular CAD/CAM programs, including Autodesk Fusion, SolidCAM, Mastercam, PowerMill, Aspire, and Artcam.
Is there a workpiece and tool probing system in the REVO MATE series?+
The REVO MATE is compatible with both workpiece and tool probing hardware, and these accessories can be added upon your request. In the automatic tool-change system, the tool probing feature is included as standard.
Is it possible to use a 4th axis?+
Yes. Upon request, a 4th axis module with a 100 mm diameter chuck can be added. Even if you purchase our machine as a 3-axis model, you have the option to add the 4th axis at any time in the future.
What is the warranty period of the REVO MATE? Is there service and spare parts support?+
The REVO MATE is guaranteed for 2 years against manufacturing defects, and spare parts support is available for 3 years. For all problems that cannot be solved via remote assistance, we can provide service on-site or at our facility.
How will MATE fit into my workshop or R&D space?+
All three models use 230 V single-phase power. External dimensions are 720 × 850 × 850 mm for MATE 200, 795 × 960 × 880 mm for MATE 400 and 795 × 1140 × 1720 mm for MATE 400 Plus. The delivery route, clear door opening, service access, floor and electrical installation are assessed before setup.
What preparations are needed before starting?+
Plan placement and electrical supply along with cutting tools, workholding and program preparation. Selected equipment such as automatic tool changing, spray cooling, a vacuum table or extraction may need additional air, vacuum or extraction systems.
How is cooling provided?+
The spray cooling system combines a small amount of coolant with compressed air at the machining zone. It requires 6–8 bar of clean, dry air. Coolant and settings are selected for the material and the manufacturer’s operating instructions.
Is CAM software mandatory for using the REVO MATE? Can it be operated with manual programming?+
The REVO MATE is suitable for both working with CAM software and traditional manual programming. Of course, CAM software offers a faster and safer working environment in most cases compared to traditional programming.
Is the REVO MATE suitable for long-term continuous operation?+
The REVO MATE is suitable for 24/7 continuous operation as long as the maintenance and usage conditions are followed.
How are shipping and installation handled?+
After testing, the machine is shipped in a palletized wooden crate with operating, maintenance and startup documents. Transport and placement are planned around the dimensions and weight of the selected model. The technical team provides support throughout the process.
Do you provide training on how to use the REVO MATE?+
The REVO MATE control panel features a very simple interface and is much easier to use compared to traditional CNC milling panels. Documents and videos required for training on the panel are sent along with the machine. Additionally, one-on-one training can be provided on-site upon request.
Is the REVO MATE a CNC router or a milling machine?+
The REVO MATE is a CNC milling machine. Most machines sought as a desktop CNC router are built for wood, MDF and plastics on light profile frames. The REVO MATE has a cast body (cast aluminium on MATE 200 and MATE 400, cast iron on MATE 400 Plus), servo-driven axes and a spindle reaching 40,000–60,000 rpm. That construction suits cutting aluminium, brass, copper and other non-ferrous metals. It is a production machine, not to be confused with hobby machines in the mini CNC class.
Which model replaced the REVO M1A?+
The REVO M1A was the previous generation REVO CNC mill. It has been replaced by the MATE series; the current models are the MATE 200, MATE 400 and MATE 400 Plus. All three have a cast body and servo-driven axes, with a spindle running at 40,000–60,000 rpm depending on the model.
